From now on, Hospital da Luz becomes one of the main sponsors of André Almeida, who has gained recognition in para-swimming both nationally and internationally. This sponsorship will enable André to prepare for and participate in international para-swimming tournaments with the goal of qualifying for major competitions in the field. Among other events, André will represent Hospital da Luz during the training camp at the High-Performance Center in Tenerife, at the Virtus Swimming Championships in Bangkok, and the British Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in London. André Almeida began his sporting career in 2016 at the age of 16, and by 2018 he had already achieved the status of High-Performance Athlete following his first international competition with the National Team. Ranked among the World’s Top 10, André has earned 46 medals in international competitions. This season, he aims to defend the titles he achieved last season, break personal records, and take on new challenges in the breaststroke discipline. Ana, André’s mother, proudly highlights that “André’s commitment to hard work and dedication, both in and out of the water, has translated into success and achievements.” His coach, Rui Gama, adds: “As a para-swimming coach, I have the privilege of training André Almeida, an athlete who embodies true passion and dedication to sports. André is an inspiration to all of us, showing admirable resilience and determination in every training session and competition. He represents our national team with pride, proving that with determination and passion, remarkable achievements are possible. André is a true example of strength and perseverance, and it’s an honor to accompany him on this journey.” Hospital da Luz is equally proud to now partner with André on this journey of success and resilience, and to stand by him in every new victory. Go André! Go champion!
