Hospital da Luz Network opens another clinic to the public, next March 27. Located at Geriatric Centre Luís Viegas Nascimento, managed by the Bissaya Barreto Foundation, in Gala area, Hospital da Luz Clínica da Gala is exclusively dedicated to physical medicine and rehabilitation, operating in close connection with the Hospital da Luz clinic already existing in Figueira da Foz (which will soon have new facilities, in Tavarede area). The gymnasium provided with the latest equipment – including, for instance, shockwave machines and gait rehabilitation systems –, the treatment rooms and a team of specialized clinical professionals allow Hospital da Luz Clínica da Gala to offer differentiated physiotherapy services . The space, with independent access from the outside, is extensive, very comfortable and welcoming, with great luminosity, offering clients excellent conditions. Through an agreement with the Bissaya Barreto Foundation, chaired by Patrícia Viegas Nascimento, this space is now accessible to Hospital da Luz clients, as administrator Pedro Beja Afonso points out: “This project is the result of a very positive partnership with the Foundation, which will allow clients and health professionals to expand the range of services and treatments on offer at our current clinic in Figueira da Foz,”. “This is a differentiating space for physiotherapy that will be articulated with the Figueira da Foz clinic, a unit that will be more robust in the facilities that we will be opening soon. The move to the Clínica da Gala allows us to make a qualitative and quantitative leap in relation to what existed,” he adds. The new clinic of Hospital da Luz network provides treatments and specific programs in multiple areas of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine , namely: Orthopaedic rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation (for instance, after cerebrovascular accident - CVA), respiratory rehabilitation and rehabilitation after sports injuries; Respiratory kinesiotherapy (or gymnastics); Postural re-education and clinical Pilates classes; Rehabilitation treatments in aquatic environment – hydro-kinesiotherapy (these treatments will take place at Ginásio Clube Figueirense pool; Other therapies, such as dry needling, mesotherapy, ultrasound-guided infiltrations, platelet-rich plasma injection, and shockwaves. And since increasingly more women are aware of the importance of a multidisciplinary and specialized follow-up – namely during pregnancy and postpartum period or in the case of gynaecological and urological problems –, the Clinic will play a key role in the area of women’s health . Thus, Hospital da Luz Clínica da Gala provides pregnancy care, assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions related with pregnancy and delivery, and pre- and post-natal exercises.
