“Congratulations to Luz Saúde Group for its work in these last 25 years in Portugal. Here, in Figueira da Foz, the group also showed good vision and good reasoning. This clinic is very important, since it contributes for a higher autonomy of the city in terms of health – and health is indeed an area that must function well”, stated Pedro Santana Lopes , president of the municipality, during the inauguration ceremony of the new building of Hospital da Luz Clínica da Figueira da Foz, on September 9. “This investment in the central region is very significant”, highlighted on its turn the Luz Saúde CEO, Isabel Vaz, assuring that: “A good healthcare is beneficial for people and for the economy, and the population of Figueira now counts with it. And you can count on us”. Operating since July 15, Hospital da Luz Clínica da Figueira da Foz occupies a modern building built from scratch at Rua Rancho das Cantarinhas, near the Municipal Stadium José Bento Pessoa. At the ceremony this Tuesday, IIsabel Vaz, Pedro Beja Afonso, Pedro Santana Lopes and Olga Brás (Figueira da Foz municipal councillor for health) unveiled the inauguration plaque for the Clinica. “This is a special day, for we have long wished to have a new offer in Figueira da Foz”, explained Pedro Beja Afonso, director of Hospital da Luz units in the Central region. “With this change, everyone wins. Luz Saúde gets an excellent infrastructure here now, our collaborators get exceptional working conditions, and our clients and Figueira da Foz get a modern health unit offering a wide range of care, responding to the needs of the city”, he added. Pedro Beja Afonso gave examples of some of the new services here available: clinical analyses (englobing SNS agreement), a complete imaging centre (with the first magnetic resonance equipment in the city), medical consultations on the day and without previous scheduling, and a surgical procedures room. “We continue to expand our clinical team” he further pointed out, reminding that this clinic does not operate isolated, “being integrated in the Hospital da Luz network, which covers the whole country”. “Besides the capital invested, 11 million euros, the services and specialities here available prove the investment made in terms of efficacy and responsiveness adaptation to the existing needs of healthcare”, praised the mayor, Pedro Santana Lopes. “We will continue to invest” The 11 million euros investment in this new clinic of Hospital da Luz Network is part of “the large investment of the Group in health over the last 10 years, which amounts to over 500 million euros”, as reminded by Isabel Vaz. “We will continue to invest”, ensured the Luz Saúde CEO, referring the recent news about the 40% sale of Luz Saúde by Fidelidade to the Macquarie fund: “This is good news, for us and for Portugal. Macquarie, one of the largest funds in the world, has invested in Portugal, through the Luz Saúde group. Valuing us in over a thousand million euros. Which means that Portuguese think well, manage well, that our doctors are excellent at the level of the best in the world, as well as our nurses, our technicians and all those involved in the provision of healthcare”. “I also hope that we can be here in Figueira da Foz that accelerator of better health and better economy, for as we have witnessed in the pandemics, with no health there is no economy and without a good economy, there is no good health”, she further stated.
